About the Future Services Strategy
GMW is developing a future services strategy for our Pumped Irrigation Districts, which includes Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen.
The Nyah and Tresco Irrigation Districts are facing aging infrastructure and viability challenges.
Both irrigation systems are over 100 years old, and the original channel systems were replaced with low-pressure pipelines in the 1960s and 1970s.
Major elements of the systems are in poor condition and there is an increased risk of service failure. There has also been significant land and water use changes in both districts.
Woorinen is the most recently modified of the three pumped irrigation districts and was updated in the 1990s / early 2000s.
The strategy will cover how each district is considered most likely to progress over the next five to 30 years, and the infrastructure and service requirements for these future scenarios.
Draft Future Services Strategy – Feedback Survey
GMW is seeking feedback on the draft strategy summaries for the Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen pumped irrigation districts.
The draft summaries outline proposed directions for the future of each district, based on technical work and what we have heard from customers so far.
Your feedback will help inform the refinement of the final Future Services Strategy.
Please review the draft strategy summary for your district, available in the Resources section of this page, and share your feedback via the survey below.
Feedback will close Thursday 4 June 2026.
Engagement opportunities
Additional engagement opportunities, including drop‑in days and other ways to review and comment on the options, will be announced soon. Please keep an eye on this page for updates.
