On 5 March 2025, irrigators in the Boort, Dingee and Calivil areas entered a rationing cycle - an occurrence that has not happened in over 15 years.
Rationing is implemented by GMW when irrigation demand is expected to exceed channel capacity for several weeks, causing long wait times to lodge orders. This process ensures customers continue to have access to water by limiting the amount of water they can use in line with their delivery shares, providing the fairest solution under the circumstances.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, GMW is conducting a comprehensive review of our policies and procedures following the recent rationing event. This review includes seeking input from customers who were rationed to help determine the future management of high irrigation demand.
A survey was open from 22 May to 6 June 2025, inviting customers to share their feedback. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate.
