Goulburn-Murray Water is undertaking construction works to restore and improve the Pyramid Creek Salt Interception Scheme following flood damage in 2022.

These works are critical to protecting water quality in Pyramid Creek, the Loddon River, and the wider Murray system by intercepting saline groundwater before it reaches key waterways.

About the Scheme

The Pyramid Creek Salt Interception Scheme is an essential environmental infrastructure project designed to reduce salinity in key waterways. It prevents approximately 22,000 tonnes of salt from entering Pyramid Creek each year, benefiting the downstream Loddon River, Ramsar-listed Kerang Lakes, and the Murray River.

Scope of works

The project aims to restore the Scheme’s operational capacity and improve its resilience to future flooding. Works include:

  • Raise switchboards CC2, CC3, CC4, CC5, CC10 & CC11
  • Installing new cluster cabinets and raised platform infrastructure where applicable.
  • Replacing damaged electrical cabling.
